The Mountain Pass (Northern End)

The northern end of the mountain pass is the traditional starting point for trips into the valley. Here, you will find a 150-year-old cottage and the first series of deep corrie lakes.

Most visitors begin their journey at the northern end of the pass. You can park at Kate Kearney's Cottage and walk, cycle, or hire a traditional jaunting car.

The route immediately enters a narrow glacial valley. The paved road winds past stone bridges and lakes carved by ice over 2 million years ago.
